Stepping Stones for Africa is a Dutch charitable non-profit organisation, founded in May 2006. We are founded as a reaction on inspiring encounters in developing countries in Africa. Encounters with experts and dedicated individuals and organisations who are working hard in the field of poverty reduction en by their work contribute to better local living conditions.

Our focus area

In their work, these individuals and organisations are confronted with all kinds of boundaries or a lack of means and because of that, cannot reach their goals. In our projects we focus on these inspired individuals and organisations. We want to work together with them and provide, find or be the ‘Stepping Stone’ to realisation of their ideals, dreams and goals.

Inspiring stories

By sharing the stories and inspirations of these people and organisations, we hope to inspire you. We have learned that inspiration is mutually contagious. If you find inspiration in your work or projects, others will feel this and become inspired themselves. Great things suddenly are becoming possible which otherwise seemed totally impossible. We want this site to be a platform for inspiring stories, and in this way inspire others tot help with initiatives, donations of time, money, expertise or other forms of support.

Inspiring results

Our past has proven that this idea really works. The last few years, we realized goals we would never have dreamt possible, largely thanks to individuals who became inspired by the stories on our site. Through our previous initiative and site, Focus on Aids, we helped a public AIDS clinic for the poor in Ghana with the realization of a laboratory, an ambulance, individual support for several AIDS patients in the clinic and the foundation of ‘Positive Living’, a patient support group.

We also helped to realize the dream of the founder of the clinic, by helping her to meet all conditions needed to be able to provide anti-retroviral drugs to patients who otherwise would never had access to these medicines.

Recently, we started a Community Development project in Atsiekpoe, a small rural village on the banks of the Volta river in Ghana. With eco-tourism initiatives, and constructive projects, like the building of latrines, we try to improve the living standards in this village and surrounding villages.
